The Sounds of Antarctica: NAVIGATING through ECHOES OF ice, wind, and WILDLIFE
Over the past week, Antarctica has been speaking to the crew aboard Malizia Explorer through the ice, the wind, and the unforgettable sounds of nature. In our latest video, onboard reporter Marin Le Roux takes you on a remarkable journey, not just visually, but acoustically as well. Turn your sound on and experience it fully!
The team sailed through the legendary Lemaire Channel, gliding past the towering cliffs of Cape Renard. Along the way, a rare and unforgettable moment with a seal breaks the stillness, with its strange and haunting sounds reminding that this frozen world is very much alive.
As they sail south, they reach the Vernadsky Research Station, a Ukrainian scientific base in Antarctica, where scientists welcome them and introduce them to their research. Forced to wait out a powerful storm, the Malizia Explorer crew spends several days there, taking the time to go ashore and explore the base, where they receive a truly warm welcome. Eventually, with more storms on the horizon, they turn north again: carrying the sounds of Antarctica with them. 🎶
