Arriving In Antarctica: When Earth Feels Like Another Planet

After sailing through the Drake Passage, the crew of Malizia Explorer has once again reached of the most remote regions on Earth: Antarctica. There, they met the scientists and divers onboard WHY, Under The Pole’s research vessel, and finally kicked off their joint expedition with a diverse international team of 20 sailors, divers, scientists, climate advocates, journalists, and influential voices.

Life at sea has been shaped by the region’s raw beauty, fascination for the surrounding wildlife, and scientific work. Onboard both boats, the team has been collecting vital data and exploring what’s under the surface across different iconic sites of the Western Antarctic Peninsula to better understand the Ocean’s role in our changing climate and how to protect this unique region.

Over the past days, our onboard reporter Marin Le Roux has captured breathtaking footage, and his latest video offers a glimpse into life at sea, stunning landscapes, and the science happening in the background. Take a moment to slow down and experience life onboard: the teamwork, the beauty of nature, and the essential work carried out every day, far away, yet connected to all of us.
