The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has been a steadfast partner of Team Malizia since 2018, providing unwavering support for our My Ocean Challenge education programme. Founded by his highness Prince Albert II, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable development. The foundation focuses on environmental conservation and preservation of the biggest habitat and ecosystem on Earth: Our Ocean. By supporting various environmental projects worldwide, the foundation collaborates with governments, organisations, and civil society to drive positive change for our planet.

Thanks largely to the early belief in Team Malizia’s mission and continued support from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, our My Ocean Challenge education programme has inspired over 75,000 children and young adults worldwide to engage with ocean science and sustainable practices.

Ocean science is deeply embedded in Monaco’s legacy, beginning with Prince Albert I and continuing through the efforts of Prince Albert II. The oceans play a vital role in mitigating climate change by buffering atmospheric CO2 and regulating global temperatures. Understanding their current state is essential for assessing their future capacity to perform these functions. Unfortunately, ocean and climate data are often insufficient. The offshore races in which Team Malizia participates traverse some of the most remote areas of the ocean, where scientific data is particularly sparse. This makes the information gathered during these races extraordinarily valuable for enhancing our understanding of oceanic conditions and their role in climate regulation.

By collecting crucial ocean data during our races, global circumnavigations, and expeditions to remote waters, we not only honor Monaco’s rich heritage in ocean science but also make a significant contribution to advancing our scientific understanding of the oceans and their impact on climate change.
